How does dairy make you feel? Happy stomach = Happy heart = happy living = Organic being!
Dairy intolerance can show itself in a few different ways: bloating, diarrehea, constipation, IBS, skin irritation, blocked sinuses to name a few symptoms. It can be quite a challenge to remove dairy from your diet if you are used to milk in your tea, butter on your toast and cheese in your pasta sauce. Not to mention cream on your strawberries or yoghurt with your muesli.
If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms it can be an idea to take a dairy & lactose test.
If you find you are dairy or lactose intolerant you are free to enjoy a number of tasty nutritious alternatives. It can of course feel a bit challenging to change a life long habit and start writing a new type of shopping list. However, there are a number of alternatives to choose from.
The key is to test a few out and gradually adapt your taste buds, whilst enjoying an easier digestion process, more vitality, clarity of mind and generaly a lighter, healthier feeling in the body.
Here is a recipe for a tasty milk alternative: Seed/Nut Milk Recipe:
Homemade Oat Milk:
35g porridge oats
300ml filtered water
Soak the oats in water for at least 1 hour
Once soft, simply mix at high speed in a blender until your oat milk is soft and silky
Homemade Almond Milk:
150g blanched almonds
750ml watr
2tsp cinnamon
4 medjool dates or a 1-2tbls maple syrup
Soak the almonds for at least 8 hours
Once soaked, drain and rinse thoroughly
Mix in high speed blender with approximately 3 cups of filtered water
Keep blending until you are satisfied with the creamy consistency. Add more water if necessary
Place a jelly bag strainer on the top of a jug and pour the milk through it. Squeeze the nut pulp until all the fluid is drained. You may need to use your hands!!
Now, add the dates or syrup and cinnamon and place the milk back in the blender and blend again!]]>
